Birmingham Airport is the 3rd largest airport in the UK. Safety is a huge concern at Birmingham Airport and the health and safety measures extend to all areas of the organisation.
Recently, we were asked to design and produce new safety livery for Birmingham Airport Airfield Safety fleet to help ensure the safest possible environment for everyone working and travelling through Birmingham.
The Birmingham Airport Airfield Safety fleet plays an essential part in the smooth running of this part of the airport. They have a key role in ensuring the runway is safe to use for all airfield traffic.
The new livery was to incorporate reflective and fluorescent safety markings to be designed and applied to the fleet of Volvo XC60 vehicles. Due to the duties of the vehicle, markings were also required on the roof.
The design needed to be quite complex. The requirement was for the Battenberg to follow on continuously from the roof down the side and bonnet and the rear. In order to ensure that the cut kit would fit perfectly and provide the best durability, we templated the vehicle from scratch.
Our designer used the details from our templating team to create the livery design. The proof was sent to the customer for their approval. As soon as this was done the markings were cut and produced.
There were 4 vehicles completed altogether and markings were applied using a combination of reflective, fluorescent and black cut vinyl:
Bespoke Full Rear – 3M Diamond Grade 4083 Reflective Red with Fluorescent Yellow Green and 3M Diamond Grade 4092 Reflective Red
Bespoke Battenburg to Sides and Roof – 3M Diamond Grade 4083 Reflective Red with Fluorescent Yellow Green / 3M Diamond Grade 4092 Reflective Red
Bespoke Bonnet – 3M 3485 Saturn Fluorescent Yellow Vinyl
Text to Front Doors and Bonnet – BIRMINGHAM AIRPORT – Black Vinyl, AIRFIELD SAFETY – Engineering Grade Red
The 4 vehicles were completed and delivered to site, where they can now perform the essential safety duties at this very busy airport.
